  • El Gato Negro (mp3)
Vocalist Ariel Dison, who wrote the lyrics, and I recorded this in Calcutta, with (in my opinion) some of the greatest Indian musicians of our time. This is a rough mix, because we are shopping the master around. (2004)

  • I've Known Rivers (mp3)
In 2001, I was messing around with electronica, ambient music and hip-hop under the (ridiculous?) alias Dr. Hear Q-Tripp. This is a collaboration with the amazing Vijay Raveendranath. The words are Langston Hughes.

  • Boom Boom Boom (mp3)
This is a demo with me playing every instrument. It's got a West African groove that I learned in Ghana. (2005)

  • Falonga Bay Chant-Samoa (mp3)
Traveling the world with a mini-disc recorder and a little travel guitar yeilded hundreds of hours of what they used to call "field recordings." I am totally overwhelmed with this mountain of music which includes Indonesian Gamelan, kava drinking ceremonies, ragas, birds, baboons etc... I recorded this in Samoa, in one of the most remote regions of their main island, Upolo, called Falonga Bay. Samoans, by the way, are incredible musicians, everybody without exception will break out into four part harmony at any given time. This is a youth chorus singing their traditional village song. (2003)
